As to be expected from this chain, service and food were adequate. Beer selection included one local brewery feature. Outdoor seating and convenient location were a plus.

Waitress could care less about us and had a poor attitude. The old bay shrimp was pretty bad. The back deck was very hot. I believe it's due to all the AC units on the back of the building blowing hot air out onto the deck area. Good for drinks, not for food

I checked this place out through Yelp and the two things i wanted shrimp and black and blue burger was not on the menu. There were pictures of the food, what gives. They must have changed the menu. So i got the pastrami sandwich, (perogies and wings (apps). The food was served on plastic plates kinda like a cafeteria, different. The sandwich and wings were good. The perogies were good but i had better. Nice facility right in the middle of town.

Adequate food.. It was fine but that's it. The nachos are run of the mill, the fried pickles are pretty good (the breading is flavorful). The spinach artichoke dip wasn't very creamy or artichoke-y, more like creamed spinach side dish. Perfectly fine for a pit-stop lunch while in Jim Thorpe.

First, much cheaper beer than the other pubs I visited in Jim Thorpe. I visited this pub twice during the St. Patrick's Day festival weekend. Both times it was packed to the gills. Still, I got good service and cold beer. The second time, I ordered food, which was out quick despite the mob. The pastrami reuben was delicious, as were my french fries. Moderately priced, and good pub grub. Definitely worth a stop.

Good steak!!! Cooked perfectly as ordered, no fat, great flavour, fast! The most expensive one is $19. The waiter was very sweet :)) We were here pretty late and had to seat inside. There is a very casual dining room where we sat. It was quiet. There is also a traditional pub room attached where life music was on. At that time it looked like this is a pub for local alcohol addicted people. They sing pretty nice though:) If I go the next time I would pick a table or grab a seat at the bar outside on the porch. (has to be not late).

JT is a beautiful little town to visit during the Fall season. I had dinner at Molly Maguire's while staying in JT. The Fish & Chips & Hamburgers were delicious, and the service was fast. Not to mention our food came out very quickly. I would recommend this pub and eat here again!

This place has been great te three times we've been. Everything that we've ordered with the exception of one item has been excellent, and cooked to our asking. The one item was a chicken sandwich that was tasty, but lacking enough sauce, makin it dry. This was easily rectified by asking for more sauce. The staff is friendly and we got 4 meals for $35. You can't beat that!

I've been going to Jim Thorpe for years, and Molly's is easily my favorite place (since before it was Molly's, when it used to be JTs). The food is always good. Salads are always made with fresh produce, the burgers are cooked to perfection, the pub fare is great too...I recommend the onion rings. The servers are good too, the food comes out quickly, and they make sure you have everything you need and that youre happy with your food and drink. But my favorite part about it is the bartender Chris. He always has a smile on his face, suggestions for drinks, food, or stuff to do around town. They don't chintz on the drinks either, like some places that just throw a splash of vodka on a cup full of ice. All in all, it's the best place in town for food.

Burger was OK. No drink specials and dirty inside.

The summary: Jim Thorpe is a cute little street with tourist prices and a bad anchor bar in Molly Maguire's. Avoid the place. Stayed at the Hotel Switzerland above the bar, nothing bad to say there. Tried the deck bar twice during our stay. I will not be trying it a third time. First time we sat and ate dinner. $7.50 for a 12oz bottle of Ommegang is a little overpriced (like most things in the tourist area of town). The draft Yuengling was skunked or perhaps dirty pipes ruined it. It was undrinkable. Food (fish n chips and turkey club with undercooked bacon) was totally unremarkable. Blandest french fries ever. After wandering around town we retuned to the bar later in the evening. I like beer, good beer. All of the great beer bars in and around Philadelphia have spoiled me. Anyway, Molly's has 16 beers on tap. Nothing remarkably different - variety of Coors/Miller/AB brews. So I tried a Knuckleball Blonde. It was skunked too. I had a discussion with the owner about my beer experiences and was told I didn't know what I was talking about and specifically the Knuckleball was supposed to taste like "Coors Light with a floral aroma". (I don't know what to say when someone thinks that sounds like a beer they should serve.) At that point I found out he doesn't drink beer. He eventually replaced my beer with a Blue Moon, but not before leaving a terrible impression. It was one of those instances where you file it away mentally for conversations about terrible customer service.

Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. We were seated immediately and Chad was our waiter. He was personable and friendly to all of us. The food was good and my husband's shepherds pie was wonderful. The place was warm and had a very happy vibe. We would eat here again.

Mollies a good local pub that has recently added an enormous deck. The prices are reasonable and the menu is decent. This used to be JT's but everything seems to fairly untouched since the name change. Definitely worth the visit.

I'm giving this a two star rating because my parents eat here all the time and have never had a bad experience. Also this tale below is so bad it's almost comical. Otherwise I would give it a one star. I live in Jim Thorpe, so I know what to expect from the eateries around here. There is nothing out of this world, but good for a small historical town. My parents eat inside btw, this place has a large deck and it always looks inviting out there so my boyfriend and I decided on a nice little dinner outside. Big mistake. We walked in and were seated promptly, it was so hot that when our waiter came over I asked for water, which we were given immediately...so I asked what frozen drinks they have, like a margarita or a strawberry daiquiri... He explained he wasn't sure if they made strawberry daiquiris because he was new. That's fine, I was waitress all through high school I know how it feels. His manager was passing and he asked about the daiquiri, the manager said yes they make them, so I said I would like that please, my boyfriend got a black and tan. My Boyfriend ordered the Sirloin Steak: 24oz. Rare. I ordered the Chicken Provençale: Egg Dipped Chicken Breast topped with a White Wine garlic sauce w/ Bruschetta & Mozzarella Cheese, served over Linguini with Garlic Bread. After waiting about 20 minutes we still only had water in front of us, we called our waiters' attention and asked for our drinks. He stared at us blankly and then said "Jesus, I'll go get them" as if he just realized what we had said. Our food came out. He returned and apologized and explained he had accidentally sent our drink order into the inside bar, instead of the outside bar. That's OK, really, mistakes happen. We didn't get our drinks before out meal...that irritated my boyfriend but I figured, whatever, as long as I get it. He brings our drinks and he sets a frozen margarita in front of me. Now I know I mentioned a margarita as an example of what I was looking for, but that is not what I ordered, I ordered a strawberry daiquiri. I say to the young man, "I ordered a strawberry daiquiri." He looks at me and responds "no, you ordered the margarita." I looked at my boyfriend thinking...am I crazy? I swear I ordered the damn daiquiri. I then explain to him that we (all three of us) had a discussion with his passing manager earlier about whether or not they even made strawberry daiquiris. He still insists that the margarita is what I ordered, not wanting to make any issues I shrugged and said if it's frozen with alcohol, I'll drink it. The waiter THEN says, if you don't want it, I can just tell the bartender that you didn't want salt and ordered something else... Now, if I was waiting on a table and EVEN IF I KNEW I WAS RIGHT, I would not argue. I would simply say, "I'm sorry ma'am, my mistake, let me go get you a strawberry daiquiri" And the idea that he was explaining to ME the excuse he was going to give the bartender for his mistake? I don't care what you tell them just get me the correct drink! My boyfriend's steak was overcooked btw, he asked for rare, and he was given medium. He ate it anyway. My chicken was delicious. Well, the one piece of chicken, the other had an extremely strange texture, it was hard. I guess frozen then thawed quickly? ALSO the black and tan was served in a plastic cup one would see at a breakfast diner for a large orange juice, other tables had glasses...what the heck? Anyway he comes back, halfway through our meal and says..."I just spoke to my manager, you did say strawberry daiquiri, let me get that for you." Right... now we are through dinner and decide, well let's get some dessert. Some chocolate cake thing with ice cream, you know how it goes. Chocolate cake had been frozen, I could TASTE it. They sprinkled the plate with packaged hot chocolate mix, and the ice cream was freezer burnt. Whatever, at this point we just wanted to leave. The waiter then ignored us. He passed by us three times. During this time the busboy had cleared everything away from us, except our waters. We clearly were ready for the check. Then a 10 top comes in, as well as a three top, and a five top. The waiter takes their orders, and gets them their drinks, all the while we are staring at him waiting STILL for our check. FINALLY we got his attention; the 7th time he walked by, and asked for our check, he didn't respond...just kept walking. He gave us the check, again still not saying a word. Never thanked us, never said, have a good night...hope to see you again...nothing. We left 15% tip because as a former waitress that is the absolute lowest I will leave any server, and that's if the service is terrible. He missed out on a 25-30% tip, which is what I usually leave. I wasn't to add that we were not argumentative, or even slightly rude, I even apologized for being a pain about the drink order. We probably won't be going back here, ever, I would rather give my business elsewhere.

Really strange experience. We were told the table would be about 30 minutes for a group of 11, understandable. I headed to the bar for a drink in the meantime, had two beers first from tap and tasted skunked (and was charged for it even though I sent it back). Second one was bottled. Took my bottled beer to the table when it was ready. The deck seating area looks much like a cafeteria with very tightly packed picnic tables. We sat down at 3:55, dinner starts at 4. They refused to bring us dinner menus until 4 despite the fact that by the time 11 people decide what to eat and place the order it would in fact be dinner. After being seated, I ordered another beer and was carded. My license had expired the week before (It was to be my 30th birthday dinner) and I forgot to bring my new license. They refused to serve me even though I had a beer from their own bar in front of me. I am 30, with a receding hair line, beard, and grey hair. I asked for the manager and he told me the same thing. I was willing to pass on another beer to avoid a problem. He then refused to allow anyone at the table to drink and had the waiter pull all the drinks that were already on the table. When we were more than surprised (but not at all rude as my family has been in food service) he threatened to have to police come to 'discuss' it. After the manager stood at our table for an uncomfortable amount of time, we decided to leave. He said our check would be right over (presumably for the drinks that were pulled from the table before we could even have a toast). He became irate when we felt it was not fair to pay for the 4 drinks not even consumed. We probably should have noticed a problem once they refused to let us see dinner menus 5 minutes before dinner started. But it seems that owner/manager was really just looking for a fight. We ended up eating at a tex-mex place not too far down the road. While it was kinda dive-y the food was great and beer selection was good (and fresh).

Do not go here!! I took a couple of coworkers and their husbands to this resturant on a saturday night. We checked in with the hostess, we waited by the bar for an hour, once we realized people were being seated after us. I approached the hostess who apparently had our name scratched off and stated that she had forgotten we were there. After making her aware of us standing for an hour, we still waited 1/2 an hour to be seated. The waitress was rude and never came to check on us. We tipped her what we thought was fair even with the lack of service or even an apology for the long wait. As we were leaving the hostess who apparently is the owners wife stated in front of everyone that we did not leave enough of a tip. I explained why we did not tip more the other waitress caught an attitude and stated that we always tip bad. We had never been there before!! To leave me waiting so long, the rudeness and the lack of respect for your customers is terrible, spare yourself the drama and dont go besides the food was bland as well.

Stopped here for late lunch after visiting beautiful downtown Jim Thorpe. I am gluten free and vegetarian so its difficult for me to find anything to eat. I was told by another restaurant owner that Molly Maguires has gluten free items on their menu. I excitedly sat down to eat and noted that there are many sandwiches that are marked as gluten free. Yet, when I asked I could have a grilled cheese (since I didnt see it on the menu) the waitress said yes, but told me that they dont actually have gluten free bread, they just remove the bread from the sandwiches to make them gluten free! How do you serve a grilled cheese without any bread ??? I ordered a gluten free vegetarian salad instead and had our waitress ask if I wanted chicken w/ it.-(Sigh...). I asked for dressing on the side, and of course it came w/ dressing on it. I sent it back and the second one that came was ok, but have definitely had better in taste.

I've eaten here many times when it was located in The Inn at Jim Thorpe and the food was always very good. This time I found they've moved to JT's Steak and Ale House. I don't know if the chef is new, but the food was nowhere near as good. Horrible iced tea, meatloaf that looked like the stuff they served in the cafeteria in high school. They seated us in the pub area which is dark and depressing. I won't be going here again.

We ate at Molly Maguire's after recommendation from the B&B we stayed at. I was in the mood for a burger and got the Molly Maguire burger with peppers, onions and mushrooms. I asked for no mushrooms and subbed sweet potato fries for the regular fries. They charged me $1.50 for the switch which I was willing to pay since the meal itself was pretty cheap. The burger was delicious! It was nice and juicy. The only complaint is that the peppers weren't sauteed peppers, they were roasted red peppers. I'm not a fan, so I ended up taking those off too. Had I known they were roasted red, I would have just ordered a regular cheeseburger! My husband had a steak that was quite good also. Overall, it was great pub food, with a nice atmosphere that wasn't too loud for a pub.

Well, this is an update more than a review - the Molly Maguire name has moved down the street to what-used-to-be JT's Steak-n-Ale... now it's Molly Maguires Steakhouse & Pub (or something like that). The Emerald is no longer in existence, it seems. The space is being remodeled and there's a big sign on there saying it will be called the Broadway Grille. Hope it's good.

Waited about 20 minutes to be seated here on their large outdoor deck. Service was fine, food was bleh. I am going to copy from Jen S.'s review to tell you that "my $9 crab cake sandwich tasted totally bland, even after slathering it with a more than liberal dose of tartar sauce." The menu claims that it is lump crab - a blatant lie. The roll it was on was stale, and the shredded iceberg lettuce and single small slice of tomato did not do much to help matters. Fries were typical. Highlight of the entire meal was the teriyaki sauce for the wings we ordered as an appetizer, which were presented very nicely (for being in a plastic basket). The wings themselves were dry, but the sauce was very good. They serve beer in plastic cups, giving the place a frat party feel. The draft selection is fairly diverse. There are better places to get below average food.

We were in JIm Thorpe in January 2011 and ate at Molly's twice and Moya once. Although Moya was pleasant and worth trying, I felt Molly's succeed in their vison better and I would give the edge to Molly's over Moya, actually. Leaving New York I always brace myself for bad greens but Molly's salad's were Manhattan-ready: the mixed greens had great arugula, dandelion, radicchio, romaine in them. The seared tuna on the salad was correctly seared and encrusted with sesame. Our Russian friend approved of the potato pierogis. Keeping with the Irish theme, their shepherd's pie was quite decent: crisp top, fair size (not midwesternly gargantuan or anything), good filling, not canned soup like you anticipate at a sports pub. The crab in the crab dip appetizer was good. The six beers on tap were well chosen: two normal beers (Yeungling & Bud) two wheat beers (a German heffeweizen & Half Moon), and my fave, draught Dogfish IPA. We passed on the enormous steak offerings but there are about five steak options, topping out at a 24 oz steak for, I think, about twenty dollars, fixings included. The staff was good, calm, super competent, nice. There were two big televisions on every wall. NFL playoffs were on some sets were tuned to Premier League soccer. On MLK day they flipped two sets over to a History Channel retrospective of Dr King. It was much better food and atmosphere than what I expect in a bar that shows lots of football. Better than what I expect from an Irish Bar too. If I were in town for a week this would be my daily restaurant.

We were limited in options for dining out when we came as it was off season. Stopped in here for lunch and got fried calamari which was passable and a couple of burgers which they cooked to order and were decent. Beer list was pretty good and the bartender was attentive.

I really don't understand why this place doesn't have more stars. The food and service are always good and it's reasonably priced. We've been here several times. I know people complain about waiting to be seated but I don't understand what they expect. It's located in a small tourist town with few restaurants, you're going to have to wait.

First time eating in the deck. With maybe 10 people in all already there, our group of 7 (4adults 3 kids..ages 1,4,6) were told we could bring up the stroller and waitress gave an attitude about seating us. Was really ridiculous. Almost weren't going to eat there but decided we would. We ordered our food, took 40 minutes to get apps!!!! Spinach dip & periogi!! Our lunch came another 15 minutes later. Really bad wait time specially when your with kids. bUT I give the 2 stars - 1 because the food was pretty good, and the other for the clean bathroom. Don't think we'll eat here again. We've had too many other amazing experiences at other smaller restaurants in the town!!:)

I like the outdoor concept. A giant tarp over the bar and eating area, where you can chill and eat/drink when it's summer time. I don't like the food. The nacho portion size was way too small. Hey, this ish is supposed to be for sharing...just hit up any other resto and peep their portion size and you'll see. C'mon now... ...and my "medium" burger was cold and red in the middle. Ewwwwwwwww ...and like 10 fries? seriously? 10 fuckin fries. Side note: the waitress was quick and accommodating.

this place is terrible. Awful service. I just left - took us almost three hours to eat because they were so slow. Inedible chicken sandwich. Fish and chips that was almost all breading, which thankfully masked the terrible fish. Not going back.

My wife and I went here for dinner. The french onion soup had no flavor. The broth tasted like water with brown coloring added. Very few onions with a few crutons in it. Even the cheese was blane. Worst soup I ever had. I didn't eat it. Told the waitress it was not good she said sorry took the soup and walked away. No what else can I get you or I will take it off your bill. I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and corn. It was supposed to be one of there best meals. Everything came out of a can, Box or bag. Nothing made fresh. Its like they don't care. Not going back

Came here for lunch with the family after biking in the Lehigh Gorge trail, tired, sore and hungry. Let me first say their chairs ARE NOT COMFORTABLE for the sore bikers! Def needed padded seats! The food was pretty bar-type food. I ordered the crabcake sandwich, ditched the huge roll and just finished the crab cake which was pretty tasty. The rest of my party seemed to enjoy their dishes. Not much of a bar drink menu..only beers and wines no twisted tea or mikes..if it were up to me I would choose somewhere else in Jim Thorpe to dine but I wouldent mind coming back.

Great way to finish a tour of the town of Jim Thorpe, so yes, I am a tourist. They had some surprisingly good taps (though they just ran out of my fav Franziskaner) and the service was GREAT from our server Chad. The food was average and what you would expect for pub fare. The table had wings (actually pretty good), burgers, and shephards pie. Overall a good experience - great beer, great service, average pub food.

The bar is where JT's Steak and Ale used to be. The main bar is a really old marble bar that looks like it's from the early 1900s or late 1800s. There are so many historical buildings and sights to see in Jim Thorpe which is really neat. Other than that the bar area is a total dive. The food we had for lunch was standard bar food burgers and sandwiches all served with fries (which were pretty yummy). They had a decent amount of beers on tap and a list of imported bottles that they carried. We didn't eat in the main dining room or on the deck which was closed for the winter, which may have been a bit better. However, we knew it was going to be a dive bar from the get-go so we weren't surprised.

Minuses: ----------- Food is a big disappointment. 1. Chicken wings - Average. 2. Cheese Steak - Average 3. Cajun Chicken Sandwich - Horrible taste. They didn't add any Cajun seasonings! 4. Flat bread Pizza - Horrible. I have not seen any flat bread pizza with so much cheese and toppings. 2 times thicker than regular crust pizza. 6. Good selection of beers and Good margaritas Pluses: ---------- 1.Good Location. It is right in center of Jim Thorpe city. near by shops, businesses and other restaurants. 2.Big Covered Deck/Patio. Nice to sit outside and enjoy drinks/dinner with friends/family 3.Good service and Friendly staff

Doing the tourist thing for the day in Jim Thorpe, we asked the lady working the desk at the train station for a recommendation for a lunch place with a patio. She pointed us in the direction of Molly Maguire's Pub, and against my better judgment that pub food seemed a little odd for a midday meal on a hot day, we grabbed a seat there. As you might expect, the menu looked like one you'd get with your Guinness at midnight - very limited bar fare: a few appetizers, a tuna salad, a Caesar salad, another kind of Caesar salad, some burgers, a chicken cheese steak sandwich and a crab cake sandwich. The covered patio was packed and the heat streaming out from the kitchen vent raised the temp under the canopy at least 10 degrees, and we almost up and left after getting a big waft of burning rubber. Our servers were sweet and pretty helpful but seemed stressed and flighty. One woman seated us, another took our drink order, then our primary waitress tried to take it again. Our food came quick and warm but not any good. My $9 crab cake sandwich tasted totally bland, even after slathering it with a more than liberal dose of tartar sauce. I did hear some words of praise about the salad with tuna, although I can't personally vouch. And the shrimp appetizer was alright. A pretty decent musician started up on guitar about half way through our meal, and he even had the wisdom to avoid "Whiskey in the jar-o" and all other annoying Irish songs for the lunch crowd. So that was a pretty sweet addition. I guess Molly Maguire's isn't so bad for a pub, just not so good if you're looking for something quaint on a lazy day of tourism.

Nothing I hate more than to get a funny look from the server when ordering something they're obviously not prepared to serve. I ordered the rib eye. For a place that uses their steaks as their primary feature in their advertising, you'd think they would come up with something better than a frozen slab of meat that taste like something from the snack section at a .99 cent store. Since it was an obvious frozen steak, it made sense as to why my meat was cold pretty much through and through. It tasted like complete ass. I would have preferred they tell me their steaks weren't ready to be consumed then swindling me out of my money. The food here is a joke. Maybe the locals consider this fine dining but I assure you, it's pure shit. Nothing pisses me off more than a bad meal and this place made my shit list. Jim Thorpe is a card board cut out of a tourist town. The people that own these businesses are so limited in their experience, that they have no way to fulfill the expectations of people who actually have had real dining exposure. Fuck this place.

Stopped for a beer on a wed. afternoon the bar was about half full of mostly locals I think because the bartender and the customers were talking about how much they hate tourists, I'd like to see how long the place would last without them. After we were there a while we asked for menus but nobody ever came back to see if we wanted anything. We left and came back later, figured different help would be more friendly, no such luck. go to the inn or the pizza place much better service

Came here a couple of years ago and the food was good. Visited again and ate the worst burger I have ever had. It was mushy and had no flavor. Perogies were good and decent selection of beer. Debating on going a third time.

Amazing...folks...if you decide to come to this place walk away if you get an older prob mid 40's server. As I sat here eating my meal I could clearly see the server picking her teeth, coughing scratching her nose and never saw her washing her hands. Secondly, the food hmmm lets just say that McDonald's has better salads..I truly don't eat McDonald's but I would prob eat there other than here. I came here thinking that it was the same owners as from my last time but sadly u was wrong. One thing I don't agree when I'm dining out..that us to see the servers eating on the floor and screaming and hollering...well get ready fir that if you come here. I usually try to see the better side of restaurants but I just can't see it here. Samantha our server was friendly to a point but not the greatest. The welcoming person seen dry and prob not excited about her job. Sorry folks, I just can't get passed the hygiene that I observed. Go to McDonald's , you might get better service. Enjoy your dining at Molly maquires pub

We really enjoyed the spacious, covered outdoor patio. The service was friendly (we even learned the history about the Molly McGuires from our waitress). The food was good, but nothing stood out as being phenomenal. Part of the drawback was drinking beer out of plastic cups (no glass on the patio). Mom had a cajun burger, Andrew had the silver sandwich, Abby had a chicken salad wrap, and I had a pastrami reuben. It was all good, but again, nothing stood out. Probably the best item was the fried potato cakes which had a really tasty batter. Per our rating, the experience as A-OK.

Stopped here on vacation about a month ago, service as stated by everyone was below par . Ordered a cheese burger and a nice wait I got a very bland and cold burger. Didn't wanna risk sending it back . Tap beer wasn't the best . I don't think they clean the lines very much . Probably would avoid next time I'm down there .

So was a last minute idea to have dinner here. When parking the lights of Jim Thorpe on the cold winter night was awesome. Went into the door while 15 degrees outside. Was a packed bar. Was able to get sitting in the back dining room. Fast service and the drinks were just as fast. Had the crab dip and chips to start with, excellent! Salads were ok. For dinner she had the ravioli and I had the fish and chips. Both very good. Will be back and anxious to try in the summer season

I'm surprised the reviews are so low! Between the cheap wine & beer, the pierogies, caesar salad and the French roast sandwich, I was very satisfied! If I were in the area again (and I may well be next Fall - GORGEOUS views, stunning town btw), I'd come here again.

Delicious Guinness on tap. Pierogies were awesome. It's a good place to just hang out, drink beer and have bar food.

Set in an intriguing small town, Molly Maguires is supposed to be the more popular bar amongst them all. The drinks are happy hour cheap, but were watered the hell down. They also have limited selection on top shelf liquor ...actually they don't have top shelf liquor. Just wines & beers. I didn't try the food but the chicken fingers someone at the bar ordered didnt look too enticing. The service was good for the most part. The outdoor deck is probably the highlight of it all but there was no live music on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Theres a lot of potential in this bar, they should look into getting more liquor options for the tourists. Molly Maguires didn't quite do it for me.

Food was OK. We were seated in the bar area because we were told they were decorating the dining room for Christmas. Extremely loud. Burger was OK. Dessert was from a box. Food was rather pricey too. Don't think we'll be back.

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon while on vacation, and the atmosphere and outside bar area was nice. I had a few Summer Shandys, and I ordered the Vodka Sauce Mushroom Raviolis. The food was a 5/5. We also tried the lock craft beers which were rather weak. The service was a 2/5 at the bar and we weren't thrilled about that.

I've been here many times in the summer and hung out on the deck. It was always a good time with great service. Its apparent if you're not a local during the offseason you're not going to get service.

I want to like this place a great deal. I walk in and want to give it 5 stars, but and there is always a BUT. The bar is old school and a nice atmosphere, but the food is okay. With that said, the wings are great. The chicken fingers are not chicken meat, but fused chicken and probably frozen. The pierogies were good, but when you enter an Irish bar, then you expect to have a properly poured Guinness and not for $7. Yes, that is correct 7 dollars for that and Smithwicks. It is unfortunate and I believe the other entrees are very good, but the whole 7 bucks a beer and the ideal that your chicken is not great is a turn off. I will give this place one more shot and then see from there. If you have no other place to go, then try it and hopefully you will have a better experience than my wife and me. My first stop was better, but I will rate it off of the last one.

Service is horrible! We've been there several times and each time we go, seems the service gets worse and worse. Bartender with long blond hair is cool but that's about it. Food is typical fryer food. Nothing great. One of the owners that works in the kitchen was drinking beer while working. Thought that was inappropriate. He was also ignoring one of the bar guests when he was trying to talk to him. We only go back for drinks now since they are cheap. Food is gross!!

Bleh. Average food, average to below average service, and a somewhat ridiculous parking situation. The redeeming qualities of this place rest on its location, which is pretty awesome...but you can't taste that. Instead you're left to eat overpriced beef on an admittedly nice deck.

I'm sure Molly Maguire was a fun gal; but, boy, was she one lousy cook. The atmosphere is cohesive for a good time if drinks and a relaxing environment is what you're looking for. The waiters are attentive, the beer list includes local craft beers from PA breweries, and T.V.'s line the bar area if you're looking for a place to watch the game. But that's where Molly's talents end. For the appetizers, we ordered the NACHOS and CHICKEN FINGERS. The meat/cheese on the nachos and the chicken fingers all tasted like freezer-isle delicacies. Others in my party ordered burgers which were only allowed to be cooked well done. As for me, I ordered the FISH AND CHIPS, and I enjoyed it. It was unlike some places where the fish slips out of its crispy batter like a bad wardrobe malfunction. The fish was crispy and the flaky flesh was moist. The tartar sauce is in a small pre-packaged clear sauce container on the side. The fries that accompany are average at best; but after a 25-mile bike ride, I'd eat Molly's arm if it was put on a plate in front of me. Presentation? What you order is what you get on your plate. Don't expect artwork on your plate or else you'll be severely disappointed. The beer list included a couple of local brews from PA breweries which always tickles my fancy. Last words: Molly Maguire's is a place to watch a game, hang out with the pals and have some bar food and drinks. With a small-town charm to it, coming in having big-city expectations would be plain ole foolish.

On a lovely Saturday night, we arrived around 7 and were seated immediately on the deck (2 adults & 1toddler). Drinks were asked about and brought right away, meal was delivered much faster than we expected, service was prompt and attentive. The kid-menu mac&cheese was scrumptious - I might try to order for myself next time! - but adult spinach ravioli was so-so. Open-faced turkey sandwich was a healing plate of tasty comfort - not fancy, but good eating. Delightful local brews on tap.

Went for lunch today after taking my son for a train ride. First off the hostess was not very friendly. Our waitress was a very nice girl...nothing negative about her, however, the establishment itself needs a visit from the guy from "Hell's Kitchen". We waited an hour for a cheeseburger, chicken strips, fries, and 2 tuna wraps. The wraps were not very good according to my wife and mother. The cheeseburger I had was very dry and had no taste. I had to smother it with ketchup. I also had a Pepsi to drink which lacked any carbonation and tasted like Pepsi syrup in water. I will NOT return to this establishment again. The food sucked.

I gave two stars, one for convenience and one for the deck. We arrived and when we told the hostess there were 6 of us, she huffed, puffed, made a rude comment to another staff member - something to the effect of "ANOTHER table of six!" I believe I she actually rolled her eyes when she said it, but I'm not 100% positive on that. They won't let you split checks - and it SAYS that in the menu (the waitress pointed it out). It would have been a better experience if the waitress could have pointed out a tasty dish for their overpriced menu - she did not. I had an awful shepherd's pie for $14.95 :( and then experienced a nasty headache after the draught beer. The only saving grace was the waitress not adding in 18% gratuity, even though, once again, the menu says it's mandatory. This place is ONLY surviving because of it's location. I would NEVER go there again, and I can't believe the owner isn't reading these reviews and making changes, how sad.

i love classic bar food in tucked-away towns. We were here during the fall foliage festival (my parents wer in town) and it was pretty crowded. That being said, we were seated quickly, served promptly, and wouldn't have known there were so many people there based on the service we received. They were adequately staffed, which is a KEY win for me in a crowded place. Good food, good prices, good atmosphere. I'll be back next time I'm in the area.

Ordered a nachos and fries for apps with beer. No smile on the waitresses face. We had about 10-12 Chips of nachos and lot of cheese, a small plastic cup for salsa and one off the shelf cream. I found 7-10 pieces of chopped spring onions. No jalapeño or anything as I said I am a vegetarian. 10-12 pieces for $8 bucks??? This is a ripoff. A small plate of fries, the nachos above and 3 glasses of beer ran us $21. Really? Bad service, bad food, small quantity. Never gonna be back here.

A big disappointment. As for ambience, this is a cool place - a good vibe, with a casual and quirky decor. That's it. I can really see this being a neighborhood gathering place. Steaks were meh, nachos were stale, and the crab dip was without flavor. We didn't feel like the service was terrible, just the food ...

Eat elsewhere then go for a beer on the covered, outside deck. Don't ask for a taste of a local craft beer or you will told about the rules. Burgers used to be delicious but now, maybe just when they are busy, all burgers are made well done. Waiter explained that they can not watch the grill to make burgers the way people may want them.

Jim Thorpe is a beautiful town, but this restaurant does not do it justice. We got seated quickly but got attended to really late. When someone finally came, he said "I'll be right with you" then disappeared for 15 minutes. Service is definitely this place's downfall, no one looked happy or inviting, the whole staff looked like they were one bad tip away from storming out. When the waiter did finally bring our drinks, he forgot some stuff, and when we pointed it out, he didn't apologize, he just walked away and fixed it, with this really angry look on his face. Other than the service, the food wasn't outstanding either. The pierogies were ok, but they didn't even come with sour cream or applesauce, I had to use the prepackaged sour cream that came with my nachos. It looked like a cream cheese container from high school for your bagel. The nachos were ok, but when they said its freshly made nachos, they're really overstating it. It seemed like they came out of a vending machine. For the price I feel there should have been a little more, perhaps something fresher on them besides the out of the jar salsa on the side. Maybe some diced onions or fresh tomatoes. As I was leaving someone spilled their beer at the bar and instead of the polite and friendly "it's ok, let me take care of that for you" by the staff, I heard "Move out of the way!" Any great restaurant can tell you that service and food is key, this place fails at both.

so.. i'm a local to the area and had thoroughly enjoyed TJ's when it was in the same location. Just this week, after a bike ride over at the glen, we decided to stop by for a bite. i have two primary issues with what molly's has devolved into: service sucked and the food was below par. The location and ambiance of the old hotel is excellent. I also really dig the deck with live music. It's a terrific place to grab a beer. but, there's that pesky food and service issue (which is the whole reason you didn't just eat at home anyway). It's my own personal double whammy when a restaurant lacks on both these fronts. And completely worthy of a 'no return' in my book. we had simple aps, wings and friend shrimp. the boy really digs their 'nuclear' wing sauce, it's scorching! shrimp were standard food service issue, cooked a bit too long but easily palatable with some spicy sauce. we both had the blackened blue burger. they serve with fries and a pickle spear. it was the driest burger i've had in a long time. just the burger, with a little bit of cajun season, about a tablespoon of blue cheese dressing, and a giant dry roll. the burger suffered from being pressed until all the liquid escaped from it. if you're going to press 'em, at least have the courtesy to slather on some mayo or fresh veg to add back some moisture. gross! mostly this disappoints because it use to be a great local pub food destination. the last time i was there i ordered the meatloaf and had a similar experience to a previous reviewer. and while i'm being critical, what's up with local merchants being uncaring and sometimes rude to tourists? their businesses thrive because there are so many one-time customers coming through their doors; perhaps they could show a little bit of grace.

Stopped in here recently for a snack at the bar. Our group was seated quickly. All I had was a beer and an order of pierogies. The pierogies were great! I think they were boiled and the pan sauteed with a heaping pile of sauteed onions. Since we're in the middle of coal region where pierogies are a staple, I was expecting a side dish of sour cream. Instead I got a pre-packaged little tub of it -- kind of like I'm in a diner and they rarely serve sour cream with anything so they don't have it fresh. For a dish that gets made / served probably all day long and sour cream is a common condiment, I was expecting a little more. Our server was pleasant I guess, but didn't appear to be able answer common questions regarding how some of the food is prepared, ingredients of dishes on the menu, or what brewery the seasonal beer was from that they were advertising on the daily specials menu. Good service is hard to find -- if you don't want to interact with your customers or answer any questions then you should be working at McDonald's.

Sad to see such a low-rating for this place. We ate here three times while staying in JT. Dinner once and lunch twice. Burgers were delicious, as was the steak, and I had an awesome veggie wrap. The service was always super-fast which we loved for lunch. I do have to say there was one day that the waitresses were too busy playing on their phones, but our food always came out very quickly. If they didn't write on the menu that patio drinks were served in plastic, you'd never know. The glasses look like normal beer/wine glasses. Overall, I loved this place and recommend it for a casual lunch or dinner, especially if the weather is nice and you want to sit on the patio!

Nice atmosphere in the front room bar area - would not recommend sitting in the back area near the bathrooms. Nice pour on the Guinness... nice selection of Irish Whiskey. Fish and chips was good. Service was good but kinda slow - but to be fair it was a busy weekend. Definitely go there for a drink.

We are pretty outdoorsy so make a stop here after biking or rafting excursions. And every year I forget how much I dislike this place. I'm going to list their list of stupid, nickel and diming attitude, inane rules and regulations: 1. they will not split checks. they will not even put the bill on two different credit cards unless "it is evenly split". which for a large party is a HUGE pain in the butt. what's the difference between swiping one or three cards? 2. EVERYTHING on their menu is a la carte. ordering wings and want blue cheese? It's an extra .50. celery? extra .50. or want lettuce or onion or tomato on your burger? yup. you guessed it...an extra .50 PER item. so totally laughable. Why not just just charge $10 instead of nickel and diming the customer. 3. they would not seat our party together. thre were 12 of us...the place was fairly empty and they made such a big fuss and gave us every excuse int he book on why they couldnt push a few tables together. In the end- they seated us together but it took ten minutes of goign back and forth before they would. 4. their food is ok at best. not great. not good. just okay. onbiously no one there has heard of accommodating the customer or the saying "the customer is always right". Avoid this place and go to one of the smaller places a little further in Jim THorpe.

First the owner rudely pushed in front of us. You would think a town that seems to cater to tourists would be more gracious to their livelihood ? It gets better. We overheard him in his Irish accent saying to who seemed to be his wife/ girlfriend that he can't stand all these "dumb yanks"!! My suggestion is if you want a nice experience in JT , go to an establishment that at least appreciates your hard earned money.

Stopped in for a small lunch with my husband and our dog, while vacationing in the area. We were unsure if they would serve us w/ the dog and when I went to go into porch to ask while my husband and the dog waited - a staff member quickly welcomed us and explained the dog was welcome at the sidewalk seating. Lunch was delicious! We had chicken fingers and chili and they accommodated the dog with a hamburger, hold the bun and no seasoning. Staff was all very helpful and were quick to see what we needed. Jim Thorpe was a great place to visit with the dog, and lunch was delicious!

Bleh. Average food, average to below average service, and a somewhat ridiculous parking situation. The redeeming qualities of this place rest on its location, which is pretty awesome...but you can't taste that. Instead you're left to eat overpriced beef on an admittedly nice deck.

A big disappointment. As for ambience, this is a cool place - a good vibe, with a casual and quirky decor. That's it. I can really see this being a neighborhood gathering place. Steaks were meh, nachos were stale, and the crab dip was without flavor. We didn't feel like the service was terrible, just the food ...

so.. i'm a local to the area and had thoroughly enjoyed TJ's when it was in the same location.
